I am originally from the great Pacific Northwest (Tacoma, Washington). The Army and my wife, Shelan, have given me the "opportunity" to travel the world.* When I am not checking out new parks with my kids or mowing the lawn, I enjoy smoking meat, studying personal finance, and using AI to increase my efficiency. Thank you for visiting!

Hobbies and Passion
Personal Finance
I view personal finance less as a series of spreadsheets and more as a long-term engineering problem. Over the years, managing our family’s resources with my wife—navigating international moves, planning around milestones, and mapping out a clear path toward retirement—has evolved from a necessity into a genuine passion. I enjoy the mechanics of it: optimizing tax-advantaged accounts, building resilient cash-flow models, and cutting through financial noise from social media to find strategies that actually work. For me, financial discipline is not about austerity; it is about breaching obstacles to establish paths to financial freedom for the years ahead.
I am not a certified financial planner.
Smoking Meat
Smoking meat, for me, is equal parts patience, temperature control, and trial and error. I run a Traeger with the singular goal of making the best cut of meat possible—whether that’s dialing in the bark on a twelve-hour brisket or perfecting the pull on a rack of ribs. Not every cook goes exactly according to plan, and I’ve had my share of humbling moments at the grill. But around here, good effort never goes to waste; successful or slightly over-smoked, it always gets eaten—either by me, the dog, or between the two of us.
Travel
Traveling across Europe with little ones becomes daunting if you need rigid itineraries. The reality of family travel comes down to sensible pacing, portable snacks, and knowing where to find open green space. We spend much of our time hunting down neighborhood parks, nature trails, and town playgrounds where the kids can burn off energy and explore. Exploring new countries together does not have to be overwhelming—it just means treating the open spaces and everyday park stops as the main event rather than a detour.
