MAJ Jared Stefani is a U.S. Army Engineer Officer currently serving as a Staff Officer, Intel-Geo Analysis lead at NATO’s Joint Force Command Brunssum in Brunssum, Netherlands. He most recently served as the Executive Officer (XO) of the 1-12th Infantry Battalion, 2-4 Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colorado. He was the Operations Officer for 52nd Brigade Engineer Battalion and is a former Assistant Professor of American Politics at the United States Military Academy at West Point.
He has served in multiple assignments as an engineer officer, as the Aide-de-Camp and Executive Officer for the Commandant, U.S. Army War College, and was a company commander in the 555th Engineer Brigade at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA. His research interests include Arctic Security, the struggle between the Executive branch and Congress for the privilege of directing foreign policy, and the intersection of budget, policy, and strategy in formulating U.S. National Security Policy. He holds three master’s degrees: an M.A in Security Studies from Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service; an MOS from the Army’s Command and General Staff College; an M.S. in Geological Engineering from Missouri University of Science & Technology. He received his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Portland.
MAJ Stefani is a licensed Project Management Professional (PMP), an Army Strategic Studies Graduate, and certified Master Teacher. He completed fellowships with the Program for Emerging Leaders at the National Defense University, the Nonproliferation Policy Education Center, and was an inaugural member of the LTG(R) James M. Dubik Writing Fellowship.
